Every child deserves healing that extends beyond the hospital walls. At this year’s Greater Lakes Association of Child Life Professionals Conference, I had the privilege of presenting on behalf of momentofmagicfoundation and our expresscreateheal program, exploring how community-based mental health interventions can strengthen psychosocial care for children and families navigating illness. Too often, the burden of mental and emotional healing falls solely on clinical teams already stretched thin. But, we know that through community-based solutions we can change the continuum of care. Our work through Express, Create, Heal exists to fill that gap — training providers, volunteers, and community partners to extend psychosocial support beyond hospital walls. We help bridge hospitals, schools, and cultural spaces into a single ecosystem of healing built on dignity, connection, and belonging.
