Today I had the privilege of leading a Design Lab at the cac2_official Summit at childrensnational Research Institute focused on the future of mental health and psychosocial support in pediatric cancer care.
At momentofmagicfoundation , we listen every single day — to kids, caregivers, healthcare workers, and partners — through our expresscreatehe initiative. And what we hear is clear: the support families need is often siloed, fragmented, underfunded, or simply not built with them in mind.
So this wasn’t a lecture. It was a collaborative lab. We moved, we talked, we reimagined.
We asked:
→ What would radically better support actually look like?
→ What would it take — structurally, culturally, financially, and beyond— to make that possible?
We challenged the idea that psychosocial care is an “extra.”
It’s not. It’s essential.
That means:
→ Embedded from day one of treatment
→ Co-designed with families, not just for them
→ Backed by real collaboration across sectors
