The best days at work are the ones I get to spend in the hospital. đź’ś
Today at NYU Langone, one of the highlights was meeting a little girl who had just been admitted. We spent over half an hour in her room — playing with unicorn dolls, gifting her a rainbow superhero cape, watching her light up and twirl with it on like a game of dress up, and seeing her become fast friends with our volunteers.
It was full of laughter and play and pretend and magic and joy.
It was the exact opposite of what you’d expect from a two-year-old girl who was just admitted to the hospital.
Lately, so much of my time has been spent behind the scenes. Working on partnerships, writing grants, trying to secure sponsorships. And while the “yeses” are incredible, they’re usually few and far between. The “no’s” can feel constant, hard, and hurt your heart.
But standing in that room today, watching her smile and connect, I honestly felt my eyes tear up. It was the most powerful reminder of why this work matter...
