Today is National Cancer Survivors Day, and I’m thinking about every person I’ve met whose life was forever changed by the words “you have cancer.”
Whether you’re years out from treatment, newly diagnosed, or somewhere in between, your story matters. Not just the moment of diagnosis, but everything that comes after.
The scans. The side effects. The anxiety. The healing. The hard conversations. The big decisions. The support that was or wasn’t there. The way life gets divided into “before” and “after.”
Through my work at A Moment of Magic, I’ve heard from those that go through cancer diagnosis and treatment that survivorship isn’t a finish line…it’s a lifelong process. It’s often messy. Complicated. And too often, it’s overlooked.
One of our big, bold goals is to change the way we talk about survivorship. To reimagine what long-term support looks like, and to help people feel more confident showing up for the survivors in their lives. Because so often, we don’t know what to say, we’...
