“How do you know when things are going to work out?” “Is running a nonprofit really like running a business?” “How do you stay in the moment?” These were just a few of the questions asked by students at Marquette…and they weren’t asked lightly. They came with vulnerability, curiosity, and a real hunger to lead with intention. I didn’t have all the perfect answers. I don’t think anyone does. But we explored them together. We talked about how sometimes the only way to know if it’s going to work is to keep moving forward without proof. How nonprofit work is business work — just with a heart that beats louder than the bottom line. But it’s also heartbreak and belief and risking failure in service of something bigger than yourself. And staying present isn’t about having less to do, but choosing what matters most in that moment. To the students who sat with me and asked the hard stuff: thank you for showing up real. You reminded me why I started, and why I’m still here. 📸: gpthedp #AM...
