Ever since he was a child, Gavin Cobb has wanted to be a professional football player. On May 3, 2022, Gavin would achieve that dream when he was selected by the Edmonton Elks 30th overall. He quickly turned heads during training camp, but his rookie season would ultimately be lost to injury. One month later, Cobb would break his fibula and dislocate his ankle while chasing a loose ball in the Elks second preseason game against the Calgary Stampeders. As Gavin was carted off the field with his leg in a cast, he questioned whether he would ever play football again.
