At the @unitednations #ClimateAction Summit, leaders made important announcements but these commitments are not enough to tackle the climate emergency, and must be followed with greater ambition. Yet, the summit sounded a loud starter’s pistol for the world to get moving. Here are a few ways leaders boosted momentum: 1. 70 countries announced they will either boost their National Determined Contributions by 2020 or have already started doing so. 2. More partners joined the movement to push past coal. 3. The summit gave climate finance a major jolt to the tune of trillions of dollars.
