In 1985, scientists discovered a hole in the ozone layer. They warned that if left unchecked, the hole would grow, letting through ultraviolet radiation that would wreak havoc on humans and the environment. Two years after the discovery, the international community came together with the @unitednations to create a binding international treaty, the #MontrealProtocol, that would lead to the healing of the ozone layer.
