Achieving gender equality is a moral obligation; it’s also key to changing the world. When the rights of a girl or woman are secured, she can transform her family, community, economy, and society. Despite some areas of progress, no country has reached gender equality and widespread discrimination against girls and women persist. How do we know? ➡️ One in three women experience violence in their lifetimes. ➡️Pregnancy complications are a leading cause of death for adolescent girls. ➡️214 million women want to avoid or delay pregnancy but are not using effective contraception. ➡️And women are still dramatically underrepresented in positions of economic and political leadership.
