Globally, the unemployment rate in 2017 was 5.6%, down from 6.4% in 2000. Yet, roughly half the world’s population still lives on the equivalent of about U.S. $2 a day and having a job does not guarantee the ability to escape from poverty. This slow and uneven progress requires us to rethink our economic and social policies aimed at eradicating poverty. #SDG8 aims to reverse this trend and promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth and employment for all.
