“I owe my life and that of my baby, Talent, to solar power. My situation was one of the worst our small health centre has ever handled. I had complications during the process of giving birth and needed minor, but lifesaving, surgery to deliver. The district health officer had to travel several kilometers in the middle of the night to come and conduct the surgery. Kyankaramata Health Centre does not handle any form of surgery, but because mine was an emergency case, it was safer conducting the surgery at the centre. Without sufficient lighting provided by the solar, I would have probably bled to my last breath. The light helped doctors conduct the surgery with so much ease. I am a direct beneficiary of that solar and I cannot express my gratitude. My baby is very healthy today.” – Mary Ninsiima, 23, Kyamunwa LC I Village, Uganda
