I’ve navigated this journey since my son was two year old. It’s been me seeking and researching for resources and support in order to meet his needs. I remember our first IEP and how devastating it was to hear people pick apart my son based on a document and I’ve also experienced great job watching him grow and learn more about himself and his needs. Each year has been hard to navigate and trying to find the right school for him, while wanting the best environment and best education/ services. It always seems like the two are impossible to get, but believing that won’t always be the case. Kids deserve to be in schools that make them feel safe and also obtain proper education, services and support.
