On the final day of our

#COP23 - we’re sharing this photo taken by adventure photographer

“Flying into Christmas Island showed me the scary reality of
#climatechange. The aerial view is stunning but it’s easy to see how rising water levels will affect these low-lying islands. Sadly large parts of the territory could be underwater by 2050.”

For vulnerable island communities, such as Christmas Island, the effects of climate change are already taking hold. At COP23, the Fijian Presidency united the global community under the powerful perspective of island communities facing rising sea levels, intensified cyclones, persistent droughts, and more. Together, with leaders from 197 nations, they forged actions to bring the goals of the
#ParisAgreement to life and to hold warming well below 2°C.
