In the last 36 hours, I have once again started to believe there are truly those who are thankful for anything and everything we do as medical providers. Seven months ago I was given an opportunity I could not pass up. With this opportunity, came a little bit of traveling for a few weeks (who passes up Hawaii) to assist in a clinic that models an approach to urgent care service delivery that has NEVER been attempted in the United States in order to bring the knowledge of sophisticated, university-affiliated emergency medicine and trauma center with the needs of a rural island community in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. It is so obvious here in Kauai, Hawaii that there is no kind gesture too small to make a big difference in someone’s life and it sure is felt/known from the patients I have came in contact with.
