I spent the last 48 hours locked in a group wide retreat for CHH as we celebrated the country's democracy day. Coincidentally, we spent the better part of the 1st day looking at economic numbers, the implications for the business, the industries we play, and, more importantly, our people. The room was very divided when asked to assess the last one year. While some see the positive trends in terms of clarity and direction of economic policies (this is where I stand), others did not. In fact, quite a number were undecided. The biggest takeaway for me, though, was a quote on how to build capabilities required to win in the market regardless of competition, economic, and the likes. It says; "Highly successful companies typically focus on 3 - 6 differenting capabilities."
