#1 THING TO KNOW ABOUT WATERING | Share + Save 🌿
One of the most important things I learned about plants when I first got into the hobby was learning about what overwatering is and what causes it.
There’s a common misconception that you should only pour a little bit of water into the pot to water a plant but that is not true!
You can thoroughly water a plant until water flows from the drainage holes at the bottom. You could even dump a whole gallon of water into your plant if you wanted and that wouldn’t be considered overwatering!
What is considered overwatering is if you water your plant very frequently— aka every day. For the most part, plants like for their soil to mostly or totally dry out (of course there are some exceptions). This means on average, I don’t water my plants more often than once a week.
What important things did you learn about plant care when you first started getting into houseplants?
