#UnitedNations Headquarters, along with the @empirestatebldg in #NYC are lit up in orange to raise awareness of violence against #women and girls. Violence against #women is a global pandemic. It is a problem that knows no geographic or cultural boundaries. One in three women will experience physical or sexual violence at some point in her life. For this year's International Day to End Violence against Women on 25 November & the #16Days of Activism that immediately follow, the #UN is using the theme #‎orangeurhood to encourage local actions to end violence in communities. The color orange symbolizes a brighter future without violence and is the uniting colour for action.
