Each year, 7.3 million girls under 18 give birth in developing countries. Of these, 2 million are under the age of 15. Becoming a mother too young not only derails the development of young girls and prevents them from reaching their full potential, but complications during pregnancy and childbirth can pose a serious risk to their lives.
