We brought our largest group ever to Abeokuta!
Abeokuta is less than two hours from Lagos and can be a great day trip to experience a city with a very different history and vibe from Lagos.
Here we met a King who has been on the throne for 30 years who plays an important role in local politics. We greeted him by prostrating which is tradition in Yoruba culture for not just kings but anyone older or with higher autheoity than you.
We also visited Olumo Rock is a massive, 137-meter-high granite outcrop in the center of Abeokuta that served as a natural fortress and refuge for the Egba people during 19th-century tribal wars.
