This comment actually illustrates my biggest issue with so much “mom advice”, it centers everyone except the mother. A family is only as strong as the woman holding it together. If a mother has more children than she can mentally, physically, or financially care for, no one benefits. There’s no guarantee siblings will be close or share responsibilities later in life, I have a brother, and I personally handle 100% of my mother’s care. And some of my closest, ride-or-die relationships are with friends, not family. For me, the most thoughtful choice is the one that allows me to be the best mom I can be to the daughter I already have. I’d rather raise a strong, independent little girl who can handle whatever life throws her way than gamble on the idea that “one more” will ensure her happiness. So here’s my gentle reminder: the choices that work for your family are valid. But they are not gospel for every woman.
