Impact is not measured in the moment. It’s measured by who reaches out long after. Six weeks after returning from South Africa, I received a message from one of the students I had the privilege of mentoring during my visit. Their words were simple, sincere, and a powerful reminder of why this work matters: “How are you feeling today.” “When are you coming back to South Africa 🇿🇦.” “Please come back, Donaldson Primary School misses you.” “You changed my life. It changed the way I think about myself.” These moments remind me that influence is not defined by the stage or the spotlight.
