š„š§ If someoneās brain was on fire... would you know the signs?
š„ Think brain in FLAMES š§ Think encephalitis
Iām really proud to be partnering with the charity
@EncephalitisInternational for World Encephalitis Day (22 Feb).
Encephalitis is an inflammation of the brain - and it can become lifeāthreatening fast.
According to Encephalitis International, it affects three people every minute globally, yet 77% of people donāt know what it is, leading to delays in diagnosis and poorer outcomes.
Thatās why the new acronym FLAMES matters.
It highlights the urgent symptoms seen in both infectious and autoimmune encephalitis:
Fluālike symptoms,
Loss of consciousness,
Acute headache,
Memory problems,
Emotional or behavioural changes,
Seizures.
Early recognition saves lives - and anyone, anywhere, at any age can be affected.
š„ Share FLAMES. Help someone recognise the signs. You could save a life.
