Startup founders “build in public” to get users. In college, I “built in public” to get offers and interviews. My name is Skyler Basco, and my story goes like this. In 2021, I was rejected by all of my dream Ivy League universities. So I attended a non target university. But when I started my first semester, I saw everyone from top tier schools already landing internships for the summer. And after applying to hundreds of internships, all I got was “unfortunately” emails and ghosted applications. All that was going through my head was: I don’t have an Ivy League degree. I don’t have any connections in tech. I don’t have the best coding skills.
