In one study called the Conspicuous Consumption of Time, they found that Americans were one of the only groups of people who found a lack of leisure time to mean they had *higher* social status. In other countries, they assume that if you’re so busy with work, then you must be too poor to take any time to yourself - which makes way more sense.
