10.10.24 • Borealis Thoughts on Ritual, Chaos & Awe… As children our conditioning often consists of traditions, holidays, and rituals that culminate our subconscious attachments to events that are supposed to create meaning in life. Historically, ritual served as a way to support cultures and societies - to protect individuals from the impact of hyper-industrialism. Collectively it is becoming difficult to manage the demands of life with modern technology. Ritual used to serve as a buffer to change, highlighting a way of consciously supporting life events rather than denying or indulging in it. Carl Jung often describes the ascent into consciousness as a descent into chaos. In that chaos one may confront the shadow and work intimately with their darkness.
