Dying, and the incredible grief that completes the cycle of life is the greatest loss in human existence that no one escapes. In decay, our bodies break down to the original molecules regenerating life at a cellular level back to the earth. Witnessing death often signals a call into the shadows of our psyche. I share about su!c!de because others wanted to silence me. In my attempts to seek help for SI, I experienced extensive systemic trauma from the places I believed would help me. SI was a deep wound demanding change. In IFS parts work, the suffering led me to unearthing the deepest of my shadows after many years of being pathologized, shamed, and having it weaponized against me in highly abusive ways. SI was a part that saved me. In working in IFS, shadow work, EMDR and then Compassionate Inquiry, it was the curious non-judgement containers where I challenge SI to understand what role it was serving me.
