The story was inspired by Lynch’s childhood memories of idyllic neighborhoods, which he deliberately contrasted with nightmarish violence. He described the film as an exploration of how innocence and evil coexist in the same spaces. At the time of release, Blue Velvet deeply divided critics, with some calling it obscene and others hailing it as a masterpiece. Over time, it has been reassessed as a foundational work of modern surrealist cinema. ‘Blue Velvet’ (1986) Dir. David Lynch #BlueVelvet #DavidLynch #FilmReels #MovieReview #Cinema
