Whenever you get a new film from Park Chan-wook it’s always going to be a big deal in cinephiles eyes, and that is no exception with NO OTHER CHOICE. Finally having gotten the chance to see it I can honestly it’s one of my favorites from 2025. This was always one I’d been looking forward too and after watching it I want to see it again and again it’s that good. No surprise here but the direction is absolutely astonishing to behold. Somehow Park was able to make shots in film that I had never seen before and yet have them all make sense within the story and not just for artistic flair. I would argue this is the best directed film of 2025 it’s that good and it’s a shame he’s not being considered for awards (which probably won’t ever happen). Also the cast, particularly Lee Byung-hun, is great. In Byung-hun’s case he is the center of this whole film and what an inspired choice he was.
