In April 2025, Netflix bought Quentin Tarantino’s script. It was also announced that David Fincher would direct the film, with Brad Pitt returning as Cliff Booth after Pitt asked Fincher to take on the project. The film was first titled The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth before being shortened to The Adventures of Cliff Booth when casting began the next month. Casting finished in August, and filming took place from July 2025 to January 2026. Tarantino later said the film has a budget of about $200 million, making it the most expensive movie he or Fincher has made.
