Have you ever seen a 3D billboard? We were totally captivated. I sped it (first slide) up 2x for IG attention span, but we stood there watching it a few times because it was so cool! After arriving in Osaka, our first stop was Dotonbori, with buzzing crowds, glowing neon signs and street food. It was a dramatic contrast to the quiet temples and deer we saw earlier in the day in Nara. We stopped by the iconic Glico Running Man (PSA: you can no longer take the viral “on the track” photo from across the river—they’ve painted over that spot), grabbed some viral Pablo Cheesecake and a simple bowl of ramen, popped into the Osaka Pokémon Center, and ended the night with illuminations at Osaka Castle. Our Nara → Osaka day trip from Kyoto was a looong day, but worth it to see so much of Kansai in one go.
