Last weekend, I put up an AMA question box❓and the question that kept coming up was:
How do we juggle it all as a family of full-time Psychiatrist + Surgeon parents, and tween/teen boys with sports and many interests and activities?
Short answer: We don’t have more time. We make the most of the time we have.
We’re big-time weekend warriors. Sometimes that means loading everything up just to camp for one night. Sometimes it means squeezing 50 hours into a place most people spend a week. And sometimes it means rebooking flights so my son can attend a Science Olympiad tournament AND still join the rest of the extended family on a ski trip.
Here’s the honest truth:
Traveling with little kids felt physically exhausting. Traveling with teens? It’s logistically exhausting.
Club sports, orchestra, science team — everything comes with serious time commitments. So these days, I plan around the kids’ schedules first.
