This is our favorite SoCal staycation — just 20 minutes from home, yet it feels like another world. The moment we hit the sand, our stress melts away and time slows down. These Crystal Cove cottages are part of the park’s Historic District, where 1930s–40s beach cottages have been lovingly restored to their original charm. They’re open to the public and can be reserved (just like campsites!) through Reserve California up to six months in advance. This time we stayed in Cottage #8 — one of the recently renovated ones on North Beach.
