Navratri, 9 forms of Goddess Durga
The nine avatars worshipped during Navratri are: Maa Shailputri, Maa Brahmacharini, Maa Chandraghanta, Maa Kushmanda, Maa Skandamata, Maa Katyayani, Maa Kalaratri, Maa Mahagauri, and Maa Siddhidatri. Each avatar has a corresponding bhog, believed to invoke her special blessings.
1. Shailaputri – Symbol of purity, strength, and stability.
2. Brahmacharini – Embodiment of devotion, penance, and spiritual discipline.
3. Chandraghanta – Represents courage, protection, and fierce energy.
4. Kushmanda – Source of creation, vitality, and cosmic energy.
5. Skandamata – Symbol of motherhood, compassion, and nurturing power.
6. Katyayani – Embodiment of courage, righteous anger, and victory over evil.
7. Kalaratri – Fierce protector who destroys darkness, fear, and ignorance.
