I absolutely love handwriting my annotations and notes, but I’ll admit that using physical paper and notebooks makes organisation and retrieval more difficult. At the same time, digital typing or drawing doesn’t create the same feeling — or spark the same line of thinking — that handwriting does, and that’s something I don’t think I could ever give up. I’ve found a good balance in @notabilityapp , which lets me keep the ‘feel’ of handwritten notes while also making them easy to organise and carry with me on my iPad. And I hate to admit it, but I’m that person — yes, my friends shamed me for it — who has physical books but also digital copies, and sometimes reads digitally even when I own the print version, simply because it makes it easier to integrate my notes and annotations into my writing. #AD #phd #gradschool #notes #academia #scholar #reading #research
