#BULawProf Jef Pearlman has spent most of his life in the tech world. He learned to program at age seven and got both his bachelor’s degree and a master’s in computer science from MIT, later working as a software developer before becoming a lawyer to bridge the gap between emerging technologies and the policies that regulate them. Today, Professor Pearlman leads the BU/MIT Student Innovations Law Clinic (SILC), where he helps students grow into great lawyers while serving their clients’ needs. SILC provides legal services for students at MIT and BU who seek legal assistance related to their research, advocacy, and creative projects. “It’s something I wish we’d had when I was an undergrad,” he says. “I get to work with technology, I get to be a public interest lawyer, I get to work with five amazing colleagues. It’s my original technology interest, but expanded into a much greater sphere.” Learn more at the link in our bio.
