He seals up the hand of every man, that all men whom he made may know it.” -Job 37:5-7 Something about a storm that demands attention, in danger, absolutely, but even in safety there is something alluring about it. There is a weight and power that is beyond our control, and reminds us how small we are. In the presence of such power, we are brought low. Not in fear alone, but in awe as well. Awe of a God who speaks and creation obeys. Awe of a power that cannot be controlled, resisted, or ignored. It is not chaos in the storm, for it is controlled and designed. For as the skies darken and fill with storm clouds, bringing torrential rains and winds, a mighty power, we see a glimpse of God’s voice, the One who commands the storm.
