Daisy Bates was born in Huttig, Arkansas in 1914. She later settled in Little Rock, Arkansas with her husband. They started their own newspaper called The Arkansas Weekly, which was one of the only Black newspapers solely dedicated to the Civil Rights Movement. After the Supreme Court ruled segregation in schools unconstitutional in 1954, Bates began helping Black students enroll in all white schools. She took the reins and organized the Little Rock Nine students to integrate Central High School in Little Rock. She was posthumously awarded the Medal of Freedom in 1999 for her lifelong commitment to civil rights. Daisy is #BlackHistory.βœŠπŸΎπŸ’ž #BHMxARYE #BlackFacts
