Today, we are crowning NASA astronaut Christina Koch as our #QueenoftheWeek 👑 Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and raised in Jacksonville, North Carolina, Koch was inspired to become an astronaut from a young age. She participated in an exchange program at the University of Ghana where she studied astrophysics and earned Bachelors of Science degrees in electrical engineering and physics from North Carolina State University in Raleigh. She earned a Master’s in electrical engineering from the University as well and completed the NASA Academy program at the Goddard Space Flight Center. In 2013, Koch was selected by NASA to become an astronaut. She completed her training in 2015, qualifying her for future missions. In 2019, Koch launched on her first mission to the International Space Station. While on the mission, NASA extended her trip.
