Police near the Indian capital Delhi have dispersed hundreds of factory workers who had been demanding wage increases.
Vehicles were set alight and properties were damaged as the protest turned violent in Noida, in Uttar Pradesh state.
Union members have been complaining that their pay is lower than factories in neighbouring states.
Last week the authorities in Haryana state approved a 35% increase in minimum wages after workers held protests.
