#TakeActionTuesday: April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, a time to reaffirm our commitment to support survivors and advocate for safe spaces. Sexual violence in sports is not rare. According to UN Women, “Nearly 21% of professional women athletes have experienced sexual abuse as a child in sport– almost double the rate of male athletes.” This is a systemic issue that must be addressed at all levels of sport. At the Women’s Sports Foundation we know that safety in sports is essential. Every athlete deserves to feel safe, supported, and free from harm and abuse, on the field, in the locker room, and beyond.
