As a fourth-time mom, I’ve learned the value of rhythm.
But as a first-time twin mom, I’m learning the value of individuality times two.
One of the most common pieces of advice we heard while pregnant and continue to hear is, get them on the same schedule.
Same sleep.
Same feeds.
Same everything.
And I understand why.
But what motherhood has taught me over and over again is this…
No two babies are the same.
Not my first three.
And not these two.
Even identical twins.
They each have their own needs.
Their own rhythms.
Their own cues.
And our intention, especially with these boys, is to honor that as best we can.
Yes, schedules can be helpful.
But connection?
Attunement?
Knowing your baby?
That’s everything.
So while we may find a rhythm eventually, right now we’re choosing to meet each of them exactly where they are.
