Your focus is too expensive to keep giving it away. You don’t have time to respond the way you used to. Not to every situation. Not to every distraction. Not to every unexpected moment. Because every time you react the same way… you lose focus on where you were going. And that matters. When something happens, ask yourself: What was I just focused on before this showed up? Then return to it. Because elevation comes with a price. And that price is detachment. This is what I wrote in my book “necessary.”: “Elevation comes with a price tag, and that price is called detachment. It is not an easy price to pay because we must detach from our will and become less, as God becomes more.” If you are going to move forward as God has called you to do, you will have to detach from the old version of yourself and embrace the new. Part of that detachment is learning to respond differently to the circumstances and situations in your life… so that you can remain focused on what God has placed before you...
