But the other day, our son brought up another baby being adopted, and it turned into such a natural, open conversation that I felt like it was worth sharing a glimpse of. In our home, adoption isn’t something we “sit down and explain” one time - it’s an ongoing, safe conversation. It’s part of his story, and we want him to always feel comfortable asking questions, talking about it, and understanding it in a way that grows with him. We believe kids should never feel like their story is a secret or something to tiptoe around. Openness builds trust. It helps them understand who they are.
