On April 8, 1976, the USS Constitution Museum officially opened its doors in Building 22 of the Charlestown Navy Yard, transforming the historic pump house for Dry Dock 1 into a place where the stories of “Old Ironsides” could be shared with generations of visitors. For 50 years, the Museum has preserved the legacy of USS Constitution through hands on exhibits, artifacts, archival records, and educational programs that bring the Ship’s history and the experiences of her crew to life. Happy anniversary to the USS Constitution Museum and thank you to everyone who has helped preserve and share the story of America’s Ship of State.
