🌲 Improving Safety and Wildfire Resilience along a northern California trail Firefighters from CAL FIRE Amador-El Dorado Unit (AEU) have been working on vegetation management along the unpaved section of the El Dorado Trail to reduce hazardous fuels and improve public safety. In partnership with El Dorado County and Friends of the El Dorado Trail, crews from the unit’s Ponderosa Fire Center have been busy thinning brush and clearing dead trees along the trail from the El Dorado Train Station to the county line. A specialized rail-mounted chipper is being used to efficiently process vegetation while minimizing impacts to the historic railroad corridor. The El Dorado Trail serves as both a valued recreation asset and a fuel break running through high fire-risk areas. This collaborative effort is strengthening community safety and long-term wildfire resilience. #CALFIRE #WildfireResilience #FuelReduction #ElDoradoCounty
