During a recent cultural burn, Tribal partners collected acorns for a variety of traditional uses— from food and ceremonial practices to planting that supports the regeneration of California’s forests. These burns, supported by CAL FIRE grant funding, are just one example of how generations of Tribal knowledge guide sustainable land stewardship today. By combining traditional practices with modern fire science, we help restore forest ecosystems, reduce wildfire risk, and strengthen landscapes for the future.
