Maria Sibajene is looking forward to celebrating her first #MothersDay with her twin daughters after surviving a COVID-related heart condition during her pregnancy. In her third trimester, Maria learned she was suffering from pericarditis, which caused fluid to surround the lining of her heart. Doctors say this condition can be triggered by a viral infection, like COVID-19, which Maria had contracted three months earlier. Dignity Health in Arizona’s maternal heart council developed an individualized plan of care to help reduce the fluid around Maria’s heart.
