HS me had no idea how difficult she was making things for future me š
Iām so happy to still be doing what I love, but the decisions I made in HS and middle school almost ended my running career. When I was younger, I thought I needed to have a ārunners bodyā to be a runner. That led to years of restriction and body image issues, and weakened my body to the point that I got 6 bone injuries in 1 year.
What I understand now is that a runnerās body is the byproduct of consistent training and proper fuelingātrying to reverse engineer a certain body will only limit training adaptations and long term development.
Iām so lucky that I realized this and made changes before it was too late to recover. We are all young and dumb at one point, but the decisions we make arenāt irreversible. Itās always possible to choose a different path š«¶ Iām grateful every day that the path I chose to take allowed me to stay in the sport š¤
