Last week with my new buddies jenniferlane and azeeza, I attended the Chicago Instagram Screen Smart series, designed to bring parents of teens and experts together to discuss the importance of teen/tween well-being online and expand awareness of Meta’s tools and resources. Here are my takeaways: 1. Newly revamped Teen Accounts include a suite of safety tools backed by leading experts. They’re meant to help parents shape their teens’ online experience in ways that work best for their families, ensuring teens connect with friends and explore interests safely and appropriately. While I currently feel that age 13 is too early for our family, I’m SO glad that this exists for when we decide our girls are ready! (And we KNOW Lucy thinks she’s ready. 🤣) 2. Teen Accounts expose users only to content inspired by 13+ movie rating criteria and parent feedback. I can’t tell you how much I depend on ratings! 3. Teen Accounts are turned on *automatically,* and parents’ involvement is up to them...
