When I reflect on my relationship with food and my body, I feel incredibly grateful for the role models I had growing up. My mom never made me feel like I was eating “too much”, and my grandad always reminded me that curvy is beautiful. That’s not to say I didn’t have my share of challenges with body image (being in an all-girls school didn’t help). But it makes me realise just how much our environment shapes the way we see ourselves, even when the people around us have the best intentions. And watching this clip with my mom really brought that home.
